Anti Slip Step Grooving

New Approaches to Anti Slip Step Grooving

We have developed a range of new approaches to anti slip grooving of steps including:

  1. Engraving the surface to remove the honed / polished surface, leaving a granular pattern as an emblem

  2. Forming rebates in the surface so a solid or wet poured anti slip product can be inserted

  3. Applying a K Grip product, for example in a three strip format.

Here are some examples from recent projects:

Engraving Concentric Emblems on to Marble Steps

The honed surface of the marble is removed using a closed circuit media blasting technique. Once exposed the natural stone will provide a anti-slip and visual enhancement to the ongoing's of the steps.

Alternative patterns can be used to your personal profile

Anti-Slip at the British Museum

The stone steps have been rebated using a diamond cutting technique and in filled with our pourable anti-slip product to enhance the ongoing of the step to meet the current DDA requirements

Anti-Slip Restoration Work at Richmonds Ham House

K Grip stripes scored into the marble provide a anti-slip surface and visual enhancement to the ongoing steps. The three lines provide an alternative pattern to the solid stripe.

Cheese Wharf Bristol

Required the risers and the ongoing of the steps to be treated with a solid insert.
The rebates were formed using a diamond cutting technique so that the inserts could be placed flush with the existing finishes.
