Castle and Pryor Blasts Away Slippery Floor at Hampshire Council's Education Centre

Floor treatment specialists Castle & Pryor have eradicated the possibility of slips and falls at Hampshire County Council's wildlife education centre.

The Sir Harold Hillier Wildlife Education Centre is visited by thousands of members of the public every year including school children and the elderly. The Centre's Purbeck stone floor was posing significant health and safety issues due to its slippery surface.

Castle and Pryor were able to treat the floor by shot-blasting the stone with a mobile blast cleaning machine. This treatment resulted in an abrasive surface, providing effective grip even in when covered by water or other contaminants.

When operating, the machine retained all the waste particles it generated and did not produce the air and water pollution associated with more traditional techniques.

Following treatment the floor was available for immediate use and will remain resilient to wear associated with intense pedestrian use.Unlike other techniques the finish reduces the build up of algae and dirt.

"This was the ideal solution to a difficult problem. Our treatment was cheaper, lasts longer and will be easier to maintain than other alternatives", remarks Castle & Pryor Director, Mark Castle.
