Requirements:

Removal of 260m² of concrete floor slabs and associated support beams on ground floor of building.
Floor slabs and beams consist of reinforced concrete 125 mm - 225 mm thick.
Insertion of steel support braces beneath floor level.
Minimal weight on floor below due to low load bearing capacity.
Work undertaken without disruption to adjacent utility pipes.
Removal of waste material.
Use of zero emission plant and machinery.
Limited time frame for completion of work.
Operation on-going alongside other works.

Solutions:

Two electrically powered, remotely operated Brokk demolition robots equipped with jaw-crushing attachments used to pulverise concrete slabs from beneath.
Work deck installed beneath condemned floor to support weight of Brokk machines and operatives.
Following slab removal a network of interconnecting Mabey steel support beams assembled beneath floor level to retain structural integrity.
Once steel support beams positioned a number of original concrete beams isolated and removed using Brokk machines.
Steel and concrete debris removed from site.
