Castle & Pryor Ltd provide the solution to reducing floors with Minimal: - Noise - Dust - and Time - a benefit to all concerned
Sainsbury's Store, Lordshill, Southampton, the existing sales floor had deteriorated and had to be replaced with a new modern terrazzo floor to meet their customers needs and on-going redevelopment programme.
Sainsbury's also required the work to be done using a fast track programme, whilst the sales floor was trading so stringent terms had to be attended to.
The removal overall of 65mm of tile, screed, and concrete in a fully operating store was never going to be easy.Once the pre-contract meetings had been attended to the programme was set, and it was clear from the offset that conventional methods of removal was not a option.
Work on the whole sales area would be done in five sections, one zone at a time, they would be cordoned off, the work completed, and handed back to Sainsbury's before starting the next zone.
All equipment, materials, and debris within the zone were positioned and removed whilst the store was closed.

The existing floor surface was removed using diesel planing machines which have a large milling drum beneath the machine, this milling drum ground away the floor to the required depth leaving the debris in a tidy furrow which was then collected by a bobcat sweeper.
On coming trades also benefited as the milling drums left a ideal textured surface which assisted the adhesion properties of newly installed products.
All fumes and dust particles generated from the works were filtered and extracted using a negative air pressure system, a system which has been tried and tested in sensitive environments such as these.
Overall the application has proven to be very successful saving time, money and disruption - a benefit to all concerned. |
